World at War

I was recently involved in a discussion about the War in Iraq, and as usual, there were more emotional decisions being made than rational. The Middle East is a Rich culture full of History all the way back to Ancient and Biblical. What does history have to do with modern events? Everything in my opinion.

America only a a few hundred years of History and there are still culture clashes with Native American Indians and rights to the North and South Civil War to the rights of African Americans and now Mexican Immigrants. But for 9/11/2001, I will only go back as far as World War II. You have to research whom those the leaders of those countries supported during World War II and why.

The State of Israel was established in 1948, only 60 years ago. You also need to research who voted which way on the UN Council and why. Why are these regions important to foreign countries?

These Wars also had an impact as to what is going on today.

Than you need to research How Saddam came to power and again look at who America funded and backed during those wars and decide for yourself why. Why did the US government and military back our enemies then (I use the word enemies as a figurative speech as tomorrow they may be our friends and allies against a greater evil yet to be determined.) Did Bin Laden fight in the Afghan War? Did the US supply and train this side to fight off Russia?

Who is the Ayatollah and what hostage crises was there for 444 days in the Jimmy Carter era? Why does former President Jimmy Carter feel there could never be peace in the Middle East as Israel and surrounding countries squabble for real estate and resources. Are the powerful Jewish organizations here in the US that fund political campaigns? How much money does the United States give Isael to build, expand and improve their cities?

There is so much more to the events happening in Iraq and the surrounding countries. A lot more than just what we are told about a Radical Nut out to destroy and kill all Americans for hate sake.

Did Geroge Bush Jr go back into Iraq because George Bush Sr left things unfinished? Or Americans were not not full of enough ire then to allow a politician to do his bidding back then?

Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country. Hermann Goering, German World War II commander

Some other things you may want to consider whether if there is any truth behind them or that you should just dismiss is for you to decide.

And I think it would be good for you to familiarize yourself with another man in US History ~ Robert McNamara

If it were up to me how Wars should be fought, I would say to rebuild the Roman Coliseum. You than take the two opposing Commander and Chiefs (leaders), his staf and their wives and children in the arena with and to hand combat weapons and let them go at it. I guarantee they would find some other way to decide their differences than combat, suffering and death.
